Nassau, Bahamas: Disney Cruise Shore Excursions

disney cruise nassau excursions

Castaway Cay has its own post office, so your stop there is a great opportunity to send postcards to your friends. All of you scrapbookers out there will want to bring an extra postcard or two to mail to yourself; they’ll receive the Castaway Cay postmark! Definitely buy your Bahamian stamps on the boat at Guest Services before you arrive at Castaway Cay, or you can buy them in Nassau if you go there first. If you do buy stamps at Castaway Cay you will need CASH to pay for the postage — it can’t be charged to your room key, and you may find that the post office has very limited hours (as in it may not open at all). If you have stamped postcards, you can drop them in the slot any time. Note that it can take quite a long time (months) for the postcard to reach home, and we have multiple reports of postcards never arriving at all.

You can always leave the ship for free when it’s in port, and there’s never any charge to explore on your own. A Port Adventure is an optional paid experience that offers a bit more structure to your time on shore. All of Disney Cruise Line’s popular 3- and 4-day cruises stop in Nassau, which is probably the single most visited cruise destination in the world. Every day, up to 18,000 cruise passengers arrive at the Nassau cruise terminal and head out to a variety of adventures, shopping, or just to the beach. The Bahamas is a former British colony with a rich history, and traces of its Georgian heyday are visible in the lovely old buildings, some dating back to just after the American Revolution. Later, as we shared dinner with our partner dining family on the Rotational Dining on a Disney Cruise schedule, they too said they just popped off the ship for an hour and then got right back on again.

How Can You Maximize Your Half-Day at Nassau Bahamas?

The Dig, the predator lagoons, the Aquaventure park and the art and the architecture are all unlike anything anywhere else (except maybe the other Atlantis resorts), so it’s very hard to say what it’s worth. If you have people in your party who love water parks, or love aquariums, it’s probably worth a visit. If you find the architecture intriguing, you’ll like it even better up close. But if you expect to get your money’s worth as a “theme park” experience, then it’s going to be a disappointment. There is quite a bit to explore within walking distance from the cruise terminal, but if you want to get to the further beach and resort areas like Paradise Island or Cable Beach you’ll want to get transportation. There is a water taxi to Paradise Island near the cruise terminal, but it doesn’t have a schedule; it waits until it is full, which can take a long time.

You can get an Atlantis day pass to experience all that they park has to offer. Add in the convenience of having a single, dedicated travel agent from start to finish, and it’s easy to see why using The Vacationeer is the best way to book your Disney Cruise. Port Adventures take many forms, and not all of them have tour guides.

Disney Cruise Line Port Excursions – Discounts & Tips

We’ve visited the Bahamas at other ports without this much struggle, so were caught completely off guard by the lack of pink sand, 5-star resorts, and crystal clear waters. As Disney travel bloggers we thought we were pretty prepared for our very first cruise on the Disney Wonder. We did tons of research, looked at loads of pins, studied the checklists and after months of prep truly believed we were completely ready to maximize the best trip ever in a very short 5 days.

All products are developed in-house, crafted by the shop's talented sewing team and visitors are encouraged to drop in at the factory, speak with the staff and watch the printers at work. Many of the colorful and contemporary objects still use the duo's original designs. The highlight, however, may be the hotel's five-star restaurant, an elegant eatery with a menu combining continental and Bahamian traditions. The sumptuous restaurant features four air-conditioned dining rooms and a garden dining area, with each room decorated to reflect the Graycliff's origins as a private home.

And it’s true many of them offer a substantially similar experience — often at a lower price — when booked independently. And virtually every port has information booths right outside the dock where you can book experiences directly. Visit Graycliff Chocolatier for a delicious hands-on exploration of the chocolate-making process. You’ll start with a fascinating factory tour, witnessing cacao beans being ground and roasted, liquid chocolate being mixed, and molds being filled. You’ll also learn a bit about the importance of responsible farming in the chocolate trades.

Should you Book Disney Nassau Excursions on your Disney Cruise?

Nassau is also filled with historic sites and shopping opportunities. Yet visitors are missing out on genuine colonial-era history if they don't also spend time exploring the historic architecture and attractions located steps from the cruise pier. And, don't forget that the Chase travel portal offers excursions bookable with cash or Ultimate Rewards points.

Sandyport Beach is connected by a small bridge to the Venice-like resort Sandyport development near Cable Beach. Delaporte Beach is west of Cable Beach near the former plantation village of Delaporte. East of Nassau lies Saunders Beach, also popular with visitors and locals, and known for its beautiful twilight views. The British Colonial Hilton Nassau is another Nassau resort where you can use points. Spend 50,000 Hilton Honors points for a night's stay (which you'd use as a day room). You can earn points with the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card or Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card.

While you can certainly book an excursion through the cruise line, there are also several things you can do on your own while in Nassau. Port Adventures can be booked onboard the ship, subject to availability. Your Disney Travel Agent can help you price out the cost of adding some Disney World time to your Disney Cruise. Disney Cruise Line’s primary home port is Port Canaveral, about 60 miles from Disney World. The Disney Cruise shuttle service transports guests between the port, the airport, and Disney World.

As a plus, while technically not located in the Caribbean, Nassau and the Bahamas offers the same splendid sunny skies, brilliant blue waters and amazing culture and traditions. Depending on how many nights you want to cruise (3, 4, 5, & 6 nights) and where you want to port out of will determine what ship you will be able to take to the Nasau, Bahamas. There are several great spots to snorkel in Nassau and your best bet would be to book an excursion that includes snorkeling. Most of the resorts have rates to use their beach and some even have a package deal that includes lunch.

Start with a brief bus tour of the city’s architectural treasures and 200-year old pastel buildings including the Houses of Parliament and Government House. Upon arrival at the conservation center, participate in the Bahamas only authentic flamingo experience. The “Ballerinas in Pink” here have been trained to march and delight guests. Enjoy up-close and personal encounters with macaws, peacocks, snakes, turtles and more creatures in a nearly century-old stone-walled garden setting. Descend 80 feet below the surface of the earth, traveling past limestone formations and crystalized stalactites and over underground lakes.

Miami's Airport can be chaotic at times - in particular on weekends in the morning. Most cruise lines offer transfers from the airport to the port. This service is not exactly cheap when compared with taxis or Uber but has the advantage of handling luggage straight to your cruise ship. Of course, there are a number of hotels near the Miami cruise port. Hotels closest to the port usually offer higher-end accommodations due to being near trendy downtown and also usually have nicer atmosphere. You can also try staying in South Beach, with its famous art-deco hotels.

The drop-off is at the Miami International Airport and from here a FREE shuttle will take you directly to the Port of Miami, right to the Terminal of your cruise ship. Once disembarking the cruise, just get on the Car Rental Shuttle (which stops by all the Terminals) to get back to the Airport. If you rent a car in advance it may work out cheaper and more conveniently. Most Cruise Lines also offer transfers from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport (FLL) to the Port of Miami. By contrast, Uber and Lift regular service is around $35 per trip (not per person) and a standard taxi will charge over $75 per ride.

Crystal Cruises Ships and Itineraries 2024, 2025, 2026

crystal cruise 2023

In January, Crystal signed a partnership with Ensemble Travel Group (1968-founded consortium, member-owned and run organization of ~850 independent travel agencies in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand). Under this deal, Crystal provides an onboard amenity program, Ensemble Travel-hosted voyages, and access to discounted cruises for travel agents. Both the spa and the gym will be revamped, and the Wimbledon courts will host both paddle tennis and pickleball. A refreshed approach to entertainment and events programming has been developed with more information to follow. Familiarize yourself with the layout of our ship, and delve into a world of innovative experiences and expertly curated spaces from our world-renowned restaurants to our cutting-edge Spa, and university at sea.

From its casual eateries to more formal dining experiences, passengers can expect a truly elevated level of cuisine onboard. Beyond those changes -- and the addition of new suites (see below), the Crystal Symphony deck plan exists largely as it did after the ship's sweeping 2017 refit. Flow between public rooms is excellent, and it's relatively easy to find your way around after just a few hours onboard, in stark contrast to some of the megaships plying the oceans today. The 140-night-long itinerary starts from Miami Florida (January 11, 2023) and ends in Barcelona Spain (May 31). Two alternate disembarkation options are offered - Venice (128-night itinerary) and Piraeus-Athens (119-night itinerary). Crystal offers a total of 9 separate itinerary segments ranging from 9- to 23-nights.

Crystal unveils 2023/24 voyages, with Australia back in the mix

Among cabins on Crystal Symphony, the most interesting development is the creation of a number of new Junior Crystal Suites, Sapphire Oceanview Suites and Sapphire Veranda Suites. The Sapphire suites offer brand-new décor and up to 430 square feet of living space, along with separate living and sleeping areas, a walk-in closet, dual vanities, and an oversized shower that offers push-button rainforest, jetted or wand options. Junior Crystal Suites add even more space -- up to 645 square feet, not including the 161-square-foot verandas that are as big as an entry-level cabin on some cruise ships.

Crystal Symphony Welcomes Kids

In addition, on Deck 6, just off the central atrium, passengers will find a Parisian-inspired cafe serving espresso drinks and light snacks throughout the day (this is the place to get your coffee fix). In the morning, there's a self-serve continental breakfast here, arrayed along a buffet on one end of the room. The afternoon brings a spread of cold cuts, scrumptious cakes, cannoli and other desserts, and fruit. Waterside is also open for breakfast and lunch — the place to go when you want something a little more formal for breakfast or lunch than a quick bite at one of the casual eateries on the Lido Deck. The breakfast menu offers everything from eggs Benedict, Belgian waffles and other breakfast classics to a crab omelet (a Waterside breakfast signature). Lunch brings its own enticing array of mouth-watering dishes, from pan-fried rainbow trout with almond-caper butter to lamb kofte.

On shore, a seamless experience with unparalleled levels of service continues with Abercrombie & Kent ground arrangements. A&K is well known for their ability to open doors closed to most, with exclusive access, the world’s leading guides and meticulous organization. Operating on every continent, they have been regarded as the gold standard for even the most discerning traveler for more than 60 years.

They will be two 650-guest ocean vessels and two 220-guest Polar-Class-6-rated expedition ships. The vessel has one main dining room and two main specialty restaurants that each are about as classy and upscale as you'll find at sea — all included in the fare. There are also several casual eateries in the vicinity of the main pool on the Lido Deck. You’ll find a separate living and dining area featuring a custom entertainment center. The master bathroom includes a Jacuzzi tub, flat-screen TV, heated floor, and bidet.

That "Crystal Family" feeling keeps guests coming back sailing after sailing and is also why over 80 percent of the line's former crewmembers have returned to work for the "new" Crystal Cruises, which is now just dubbed "Crystal". About 40% of the ship's accommodations (151 out of 377) are Sapphire Verandah Suites. Measuring a whopping 537 square feet including balcony space, these are unusually spacious suites for a main cabin category on a cruise ship.

Life on board is marked by superior style and sophistication, impeccable service, tranquility, perfection in every detail, one of the best enrichment programs at sea. The spa and gym have been refurbished, and the Wimbledon courts on both ships will host both paddle tennis and pickleball. A refreshed approach to entertainment and events programming has been developed, ensuring guests enjoy a diverse range of activities during their voyage. Crystal Cruises is a luxury cruise line offering ocean, river, yacht, and expedition cruises.

Port Seattle strengthens anti-trafficking efforts with major cruise lines

While children and teens are welcome on all sailings, onboard programming geared to junior cruisers is only offered on select itineraries, primarily during the summer months and holiday and spring break periods. But after a major overhaul in early 2023, part of a relaunch of the Crystal brand under new owners, it's back to being one of the leading luxury ships at sea. As is typical for cruise ships, Crystal Serenity operates on a cashless system, with any onboard purchases you make posting automatically to your onboard account.

Crystal's partnership with COA expands upon the wildlife conservation efforts of the company, including its partnership with ORCA, the leading marine conservation organization dedicated to the protection of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Wildlife experts from ORCA traveled on Crystal Symphony in Alaska in 2019 to train Crystal's Navigation Bridge crew in the protocol for collecting scientific data about the behavior of animals and treated passengers to hours of whale watching. In March 2016, Crystal revealed plans to build the world's first purpose-built polar class megayacht - Crystal Endeavor. The brand's first-ever expedition ship was initially planned to enter service in August 2018 but due to shipyard issues, the construction was delayed and the delivery was rescheduled for 2021.

Generously sized, Fior di Pesco marble-topped nightstands flanked the bed, with perfectly placed task lighting floating off the wall just above them. For longtime Crystal fans, the thing to know is that a large percentage of all these accommodations were massively overhauled and enlarged in advance of the line's relaunch this year. In fact, two of Crystal Serenity's four main cabin decks — decks 8 and 9 — were essentially gutted and rebuilt, with nearly all their smaller cabins ripped out and replaced with the much larger Sapphire Verandah Suites.

Call ports include St Helena Island UK, Walvis Bay Namibia, Cape Town South Africa, Zanzibar, Mombasa, the Seychelles, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. All affected bookings received full monetary refunds including on prepurchased through Crystal Cruises packages and services. With rebooking, all fully paid reservations received 125% refund in FCC (future cruise credit) of the fare paid, plus a full monetary refund of prepaid port charges, Gov taxes-fees, any flight and hotel packages (if prebooked through Crystal Cruises).

There are eight ADA rooms on Crystal Serenity — some aquamarine veranda suites and some aquamarine ocean-view suites. The most luxurious of Serenity's 377 suites is the 1,275-square-foot Crystal Penthouse. The bathroom — with a full peachflower marble tub — is exquisite, as is the plentiful balcony space.

9+ Day Cruises

carnavl cruise

Designed to be quick and digestible, they typically last around 30 minutes and have relatively small casts (just eight on some ships). Carnival trips are all about letting loose and having a good time. Maybe you'll drink a little too much, eat a little too much, play a little too much — but in the end, you'll say it was your best trip ever. Carnival is the undisputed leader among North America-based cruise brands when it comes to affordability, which makes it popular with vacationers on a budget. The overarching idea for Carnival's ship deployments is that a large percentage of the U.S. population can reach one of the line's ships by car, saving the cost of flights. Carnival has just begun operating its first truly giant ships in years, the 181,808-ton, 5,282-passenger Mardi Gras and the 183,521-ton, 5,374-passenger Carnival Celebration.

A Guide to All 27 Carnival Cruise Ships

Where you won't find Carnival ships, notably, is in Asia, South America or, for the most part, Europe. Unlike other big cruise brands such as Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and Princess Cruises, Carnival doesn't spread its vessels around the world to draw a fly-in crowd. Aimed squarely at Americans, its trips are all about cruising close to home at a reasonable price. On "elegant" nights, you'll see a range of clothing from ball gowns, dresses that leave little to the imagination, tuxes and suits to the same shorts and tees people sport all day long. Most men, however, opt for long pants and collared shirts, while women don sundresses, or a skirt or pants with a blouse. Men are not required to wear a suit jacket or tie in any venue.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Drinks brought on board must be carried in your carry-on luggage. Carnival allows you to bring one bottle of wine or Champagne per person onto ships at boarding plus up to a dozen standard cans or cartons of nonalcoholic drinks such as sodas. The social and value plans cost $18 and $23 per day, respectively, when bought onboard a ship.

Havana Staterooms & Suites

It makes house beers including Parched Pig West Coast IPA and Parched Pig Toasted Amber which you'll find on many Carnival vessels in kegs and cans. Carnival is the only cruise line to keg and can its own beer. BlueIguana is a Chipotle-style restaurant, with yummy made-to-order burritos and tacos. Created in partnership with Food Network's Guy Fieri, Guy's Burger Joint offers burgers that beat anything you'll find around the pool on other mass-market ships and even most luxury vessels. Note that Carnival's two oldest ships — those that are part of the 1990s-built Fantasy Class — have relatively few balcony cabins by today's standards. (After retrofitting, several have around 150 balcony cabins, out of a total of more than 1,000 cabins in all.) In part because of this, Carnival has been phasing these ships out of its fleet in recent years.

Book one of these staterooms and enjoy priority spa reservations, unlimited access to the thermal suites, free fitness classes, exclusive discounts and more! And you can have comfort and value — Carnival Celebration's got a full range of Cloud 9 staterooms in all sizes, from cozy Interiors to stretch-out Suites. We’re at home anywhere we sail… but you can only have one hometown, and for Carnival that is unmistakably Miami.

Sailings range from two to nine days out of Port Canaveral, so you can get a taste of what a cruise is like without committing to a more traditional weeklong sailing. Expect an onboard brewery, incredible restaurants, and family-friendly fun. Carnival Luminosa (formerly the Costa Luminosa) is for you if you want to sail to destinations like Alaska and Australia. It also offers occasional itineraries through scenic transpacific spots like Fiji, Tahiti, Hawaii, and Japan.

Fun for your whole crew

At 800 feet in length, these aren't the biggest roller coasters ever. However, they're real ones — the first ever on a cruise ship. On the vast majority of Carnival ships, there's not just a single waterslide but a whole water park area. Dubbed WaterWorks, these areas vary in size and features from vessel to vessel.

Costa Maya

Sometimes held in a secondary lounge or a shipboard pub, karaoke on Carnival draws a big crowd. Passengers come prepared with rehearsed songs and sometimes even their own guitars. The quality of the food (and drink) on Carnival ships always surprises us, given the budget pricing of the brand. Despite being one of the industry's lowest-cost operators, Carnival manages to pull off one of the best steakhouses at sea in Fahrenheit 555, and even the no-extra-charge main restaurants get the basics right.

The ship brims with fun amenities like the WaterWorks splash zone and the relaxing Cloud 9 Spa. Before committing to a cruise, I break down the price per person per night, particularly if I need multiple cabins because I'm traveling with a group. I recommend you take advantage of Carnival's convenient 24-hour reservation hold, which displays the total cost, itinerary, and a countdown timer so you know when to purchase to secure the locked-in price. Carnival Panorama, another sister to Carnival Vista, entered service as the cruise line's flagship on December 11, 2019. She became the first new ship to homeport on the West Coast since Paradise (now Carnival Paradise) in 1998.

Aft-View Extended Balcony staterooms feature a larger balcony for more lounge-around room, more kick-back space... Not to even mention some of the best stern-side views you'll find anywhere. Get ready to relax as you gaze upon Carnival Freedom's gentle wake from your spacious balcony.

However, the line's next-biggest vessel, the 4,090-passenger Carnival Venezia, measures just 135,225 tons. That's about 40% smaller than the biggest ships operated by Royal Caribbean. Indeed, if you're going on a Carnival cruise, the odds are you're driving to the ship, not flying, and you're probably not paying much more than you would for a trip to a local beach town. Carnival Legend, themed around legends and lore around the world, has two pools and plenty of places to grab a bite, including the Golden Fleece Steakhouse for a stunning multi-course dinner. In 1993, Carnival began to get rid of their older second-hand tonnage, and sold their first ship, Mardi Gras, after 21 years of service with the line.

Find out which fun ingredients — staterooms, dining, activities — go into each deck. These comfy rooms with a view let you take in the scenery as you sail toward your beautiful destinations. Design is more than just the way things look — it's as much about how they work. And staterooms aboard Carnival Celebration® are packed with innovative changes to both.
